By now, we’re well versed in how to put a pop act together. Even if an act doesn’t originate from the likes of the X Factor, no one is surprised when they spring from performing school graduates or auditions advertised in the The Stage newspaper.

But this particular pop fan can not remember when the auditions for a band came from scouting staff and patrons from a high street store. But it transpires that Courtney Rumbold, Alexandra Buggs and Karis Anderson were recruited from the ranks and rails of Top Shop. It shows.

Although branded as an Urban Spice Girls, Stooshe are an off-the-peg pop act with the looks and swagger of a pop act, but skimpy on rhythm and blues credentials.

For one reason or another, Stooshe have become staples on the tackier chat show circuit, and have mustered a top ten hit with the hastily retitled Love Me. The original title may have been removed, but gratuitous vulgar innuendo is not hidden.

Elsewhere, My Man Music, a sunny cod-reggae tune, is so steeped in fake Jamaican attitude that it would embarrass your average rapper. This is one to be avoided.
