STUDENTS from around the country descended on a York school to compete in the seventh annual Physics Olympics.
St Peter’s School yesterday played host to Year Eight pupils from 35 schools yesterday, including Huntington, Joseph Rowntree, Fulford, Manor, Archbishop Holgate’s, All Saints, Burnholme Community College, Minster School, Bootham School, St Olave’s and Canon Lee.
The event has been organised since 2007 by David Morris, head of physics at St Peter’s.
Josh Cullum, from Holy Family Catholic High School in Carlton, near Goole, said: “It’s really fun, it’s not like a normal science contest. It gets you working together to get things done.”
Maya Ljubojevic, from Fulford School, said: “The best activity was making the boat, even though our boat sank.”
The competition was won by King’s School from Chester, while Minster School from York claimed second place and Beverley Grammar School took the bronze.
