A BUILDING society which is celebrating a £5 million charity milestone has revealed £42,197 has been donated to good causes in York.
Since the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation was formed in 1999, its city branch on Feasegate has helped charities such as Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and the York Toy Appeal, with borrowers and savers being encouraged to nominate causes to receive support.
The foundation has also run an annual appeal for a specific charity every year, with the York team organising fundraising activities to make their contribution. Leanne Jones, the branch’s manager, said: “We are especially pleased to see a fantastic £42,197 has been donated to charities in our area which has benefited so many people within our community.”
