Cadets cut a special birthday cake as they celebrated their unit’s 75th anniversary.
Hundreds of youngsters have passed through the ranks of the York Sea Cadet Unit since its formation, helped by many dedicated voluntary uniformed and civilian staff, unit management committees, parents’ and supporters’ committees and financial support from businesses and organisations in and around the city.
After the cutting of the cake the anniversary celebrations continued with a formal dinner for the cadets at the unit’s headquarters in Skeldergate.
The unit is looking for more adult volunteers aged 18 and over.
It is also seeking to recruit more cadets for the junior section, aged ten to 12, which meets on Friday nights, and the senior section, aged 12 to 18, which meets on Monday and Friday nights at the unit headquarters.
Anyone interested in joining should email York Sea Cadets at yorkseacadets@gmail.com
