DETECTIVES are appealing to a couple who walked their dog in Museum Gardens on Monday to contact them.
Officers believe they could help catch two muggers who tried to grab a bag from a 55-year-old local woman who was in the park between 5pm and 5.15pm.
The two men ran off empty handed when the couple approached.
Det Con Mike Avison said: “I am appealing to the couple who were walking their dog, believed to be a German Shepherd, in Museum Gardens at the time of the attempted robbery to come forward, as I believe they may have vital information about the incident.”
One of the would-be robbers was pushing a bike. One was in his late 20s, 5ft 6ins tall, of thin build with short dark hair. The second was 5ft 6in to 5ft 8ins tall, with a stocky build and was wearing a dark hooded top. Both had dark or tanned skin.
