YORK residents are being reminded to have their say on potential changes to council wards in the city.

The Independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England has published draft recommendations which would keep City of York Council’s current 47 members, but would see ward boundaries across the city being altered.

Under the proposals, York would have 21 wards – one fewer than at present – with a new Copmanthorpe ward being created, while the Osbaldwick and Derwent wards would be merged as would the Heslington and Fulford seats.

Guildhall would have three councillors instead of two, and Clifton would have two members rather than three.

The recommendations and maps are at lgbce.org.uk and at council offices and libraries.
