I WOULD like to complain on behalf of residents who are unable to travel by bus to Front Street along Beckfield Lane from the junction end of Ostman Road to the junction with Wetherby Road since the bus timetables have been altered.

This means it is difficult for residents with limited mobility to access the two doctors’ surgeries, the Methodist Church, Acomb Library and the other shops and amenities along Front Street.

The Number 10 operates half- hourly but goes along the Green and not Front Street and the Number 20 operates hourly but goes along Ostman Road, thereby missing out the aforesaid part of Beckfield Lane. There is also no bus service at all on Sundays along the whole of Beckfield Lane.

I note in the First bus timetable “that it is constantly looking at ways to improve their services”. By reinstating a bus to run along the whole of Beckfield Lane and then to go to Front Street they would certainly be doing that.

• IN DEFENCE of First York, can someone on the council’s traffic-management team please explain how it took 15 minutes to get from Peasholme Green to Monkgate on Saturday when the bus at 16.03 was bang on time? Please don’t blame York Races because I got a bus on the same route on the same morning at approx 9.05am.
