PLANS to give residents more say over the building of wind farms have been welcomed by a North Yorkshire MP.
The Government revealed the plans last week. They make clear that the need for renewable energy should not override environmental protections or planning concerns.
Nigel Adams, MP for Selby and Ainsty, said: “I have been lobbying the Prime Minister for some time now for these commonsense changes an I am delighted that he and his ministers have listened.
“The Government are giving people a proper say and we are restoring to communities powers taken away by the Labour Government and ensure that those turbines that are agreed are better sited. Local people and Selby District Council should not feel bullied into accepting proposals they do not want.”
