FAMILIES in York will have the chance to discover 16 cultural and visitor attractions this summer through an initiative run by cycling charity Sustrans.
The Green Explorer scheme, funded by City of York Council’s i-Travel York project and backed by tourism body Visit York, is designed to encourage children to lead healthy and active lifestyles over their summer break.
Youngsters can become a Green Explorer by visiting one of the participating venues, which include Jorvick, the Castle and Yorkshire museums and the NRM, on foot, on their bikes or scooters or on public transport and collect a stamp.
Once four stamps have been collected, they will get an enamel pin badge and entry into a prize draw to win a new bike.
