IN REPLY to Paul Hepworth’s letter of June 1, he need not worry, because the statute of limitations for his misdemeanour is well passed.
The incident happened when we both worked for British Rail, myself in West Offices and Mr Hepworth, I think, in Hudson House. Such a long time ago, I am not surprised he cannot remember, but at the time I stored this in my memory bank to possibly use at some future date.
In those days Hudson House was part of British Rail and there used to be a short cut between the Railway Institute gym and the Queen Street building, using a path that ran beside the NCP car park. The path had a ‘no cycling’ sign at the entrance.
One lunch time, when I presume Mr Hepworth was going from work to his home in Windmill Rise, he rode straight past it.
I notice in his letter that he makes no comment about then point I raised that he only condemns bad motorists, never bad cyclists; similar to the police, he prefers to turn a blind eye.
