SHERBURN-IN-ELMET’S Terry Copley narrowly missed out on claiming a place at the YDP Pro-am Grand Finals in October.

Copley was beaten 2-1 by Colin Hendry in the final of the second knockout qualifier at The Greyhound, Riccall.

Ferrybridge-based Hendry will now partner one of eight top BDO professionals, including the likes of Stephen Bunting, Darryl Fitton and Tony O’Shea, at the Huntington WMC- hosted event this autumn.

Taking out 180 for 19 and 20-dart legs, Hendry overcame Copley, who fought hard with a 21-dart effort of his own.

The winner earlier went out in 15 darts while ton-plus checkouts were recorded by Copley, with a 122 bull finish, and Jonathan Crossland (147).

In the semis, Hendry knocked out York’s Jane Flynn, the only lady entrant, 2-0 and Copley overcame Crossland 2-1.

Entry for Wednesday’s third qualifier at Bridlington’s The Greyhound Pub will be £3 with registration closing at 7.45pm.
