SCOTLAND’S top health scientist will give a public lecture in York on how statistics could provide a formulae for tackling diabetes.

Professor Andrew Morris, chief scientist at the Scottish Government Health Department, director of the Scottish Health Informatics Research Centre and Dean of Medicine at the University of Dundee, will talk about the issue as part of the York Festival of Ideas at the University of York on Monday.

He will describe how Scottish researchers combine information from data gathered about different groups of people and disease registries with biological information in research on epidemiology, drug safety studies, clinical trials and other research on diabetes.

The ticket-only lecture “Stratified medicine in diabetes – the Scotland experience” starts at 7.30pm and free tickets are available from http://yorkfestivalofideas.com/tickets or 01904 324778.
