A car mechanic who had sex sessions with two under-age girls is today preparing for a jail term and is on the sex offenders’ register.

Adam James Noble, 24, gave a 14-year-old girl cannabis, abused her and tried to persuade her not to end their association by claiming he would kill himself if she did, a York jury heard.

When that relationship ended, he started abusing a 13-year-old girl with whom he also had a sexual relationship. The jury heard how he abused them in fields, open areas and indoors in the York area.

He told her in text messages they had to be careful not to be seen together, because he would be “banged up for five years” if they were, the jury heard.

Noble claimed he thought both girls were over 16 and showed no emotion when the jury returned four guilty verdicts of having sexual activity with a child.

Recorder Marthin Bethel QC told him: “It is inevitable, as you know and you recognised it in these text messages, you will have to be subjected to a term of imprisonment.”

He adjourned sentence until a probation officer can prepare a pre-sentence report on Noble, and put him on the sex offenders’ register.

He said he would normally remand someone in Noble’s position in custody, but decided to give him bail because of his previous good character and responsibilities.

David Dixon, for Noble, said his client had to collect his belongings from the place where he used to work. “He knows what is going to come. I ask for some time for him to sort his affairs out,” said Mr Dixon.

Noble, of York Road, Hessay, denied six charges of having sexual activity with a child, three for each girl, and admitted one of involving the younger girl in pornography by getting her to send him erotic pictures of herself.

The jury returned not guilty verdicts on two of the charges involving the older girl.

The judge said that meant he had started the relationship innocently but later realised she was under-age and continued to have sex with her anyway.

Noble will be sentenced next month.
