AN ELDERLY driver was taken to York Hospital last night after his car hit an electronic road sign in the city.
A female passenger is also understood to have been in the vehicle, but is not thought to have been seriously injured.
The incident happened in Haxby Road at about 6pm as the car was travelling towards York’s outer ring road from the Haxby direction.
The accident caused major rush-hour delays as the road was closed and police diverted traffic along Wigginton Road and Towthorpe Road.
