A FUNDRAISING adventurer riding a bicycle made for seven has completed a daring challenge to raise funds for Heart Research UK and two other charities.

Geoff Major, pictured centre, went on a cycling challenge on the seven-seater circular bicycle – supplied by York-based bike shop Get Cycling – on a four-day “UK mini-tour”.

On the four-day bike ride Geoff, 51, from Sheffield, and his fellow cyclists travelled on average 40 miles per day over four stages – from York to Leeds, Leeds to Huddersfield, with the final stages from Huddersfield to Manchester and Manchester to Bolton’s hospice and back.

Apart from a broken pedal, the trip went well. The amount raised as a result of all the efforts will be announced later.

But the tour was simply a training exercise for bigger tests, including a trek across the Sahara Desert, that Geoff plans to complete on the seven-seater bike in the future.

Get Cycling donated the £8,000 “Conference Bike” bike for free to Geoff’s UK Mini Tour, encouraging him to raise funds for their charity of the year – Disability Action Yorkshire.

Geoff also supported Heart Research UK and research into muscular dystrophy. He has been fundraising for Heart Research UK for a number of years.
