THREE new bus and travel apps have been launched to make it easier for commuters, residents and visitors to find their way around York.

The YorkLIVE, BusYork and York Park&Ride applications can be downloaded free from all app stores, having been developed after City of York Council secured £4.6 million from the Government in 2011 for wider improvements to public transport.

YorkLIVE provides live traffic and travel information, including details of roadworks and closures and the number of available spaces in council car parks, while BusYork helps passengers choose when and where to catch services.

York Park&Ride provides up-to-date departure information, how many free spaces sites have and maps.

Graham Titchener, manager of the i-Travel York programme, said: “By giving people more choice about how they travel within York, we hope they will look again at how they get around the city and make the right choice about the best, healthiest and most sustainable options for their journey.”
