RESIDENTS in west York are to be asked to give their views on a planned 20mph speed limit policy.

The scheme is the next stage of City of York Council’s planned city-wide roll-out of 20mph limits in residential streets.

The authority says it is backed by schools and health mutual organisation Benenden Health, one of the major employers in the west of the city.

Acomb, Holgate, Dringhouses and Woodthorpe and Westfield are the next wards to be considered for the lower speed limits.

Proposals, which also indicate how 20mph streets might work in Bishopthorpe, Copmanthorpe and Bishophill, are now available at york20mph.org and local libraries and Energise sports centre.

Council staff will also be on hand in Front Street to speak to residents about the plans this month and next, and letters will be sent to residents on all the affected streets explaining how to make formal representations to the council.
