ONE of York's most popular pub and restaurant is being put on the market with a £750,000 price tag.

Owners of The Tanglewood Restaurant, among eight winners of the 2011 The Press Pub Awards, are seeking a buyer to take the business to the next level.

The A64 Malton Road venue was Readers' Choice Pub Of The Year in 2011, two years after it was bought by Nick and Sandra Thomas.

The couple made a name for themselves as providers of end-of-the-pier entertainment such as pantos before going into the pub trade.

They also transformed the Copper Horse pub at Seamer, near Scarborough, into a thriving cinema and TV themed restaurant.

The couple, who own entertainment company Qudos, reopened the Tanglewood in 2010 after a major facelift.

Now The Leeds team of international estate agents Colliers has been instructed to sell it at a guide price of “offers around £750,000”.

Director Leigh Parsons said: “The Tanglewood is a stunning business and property in a fantastic strategic location fronting on to one of the busiest roads in the region and within a short drive to the city centre.

“The high reputation of the business is demonstrated by the excellent trading levels and strong growth. The current owners have done a wonderful job in building the business from virtually nothing.

“But they realise that a more focused sector operator is now needed to take the restaurant to the next level and reach its full potential.”

Qdos Entertainment is a Scarborough and London based group which runs ten theatres and concert halls, employing more than 2,000 staff over 18 sites.

The 1.5 acre property can seat 260 diners in a large ground-floor trading area and separate function room and includes a private apartment and large car park.
