SHOPPERS in York city centre were invited to play a snakes and ladders game with a difference at the weekend.
The city’s Amnesty International group organised a massive games board in Parliament Street, with players falling down the snakes if their human rights were abused in various parts of the world and climbing the ladders if they were assisted by Amnesty members.
The game was organised as part of York’s first human rights open day, which also involved members of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the UK charity Medical Aid for Palestinians, who explained about life in occupied Palestine and Gaza.
