HUNDREDS of Scouts and Guides marched through York for the city’s annual St George’s Day celebrations.
The weather stayed dry as crowds lined the streets yesterday to watch the parade, which began at the Eye of York and wove its way through the city centre for a service at the Minster.
There were similar scenes in Harrogate, where youngsters from groups from all over the district took part in a parade from Harrogate’s Beech Grove.
Hundreds marched with flags flying behind the Harrogate Sea Scout Band to Christ Church on The Stray for a service and the traditional Renewal of Promises, and the Mayor of Harrogate took the salute outside Harrogate Library.
St George’s Day itself falls tomorrow, but the parade is traditionally held on the nearest Sunday.
