THIS man is being hunted by police, after a woman was subjected to an attempted sexual assault in her home.

The woman was targeted in her house in Hambleton Avenue, Osbaldwick, York, after disturbing the intruder.

Police today issued this e-fit in a bid to capture the man responsible, and advised people not to approach him.

Officers said a man matching the suspect's description had been seen in the Osbaldwick area, and believe he may live locally.

The attack occurred between 10am and 11am on Friday, October 13. The victim disturbed the man, who tried to sexually assault her and then ran from the house.

The suspected intruder is described as white, in his early-30s, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build with shaggy, dark brown hair. He was wearing a hoop ear-ring, dark clothing and white trainers.

A York Police spokeswoman said the man was not viewed as exceptionally dangerous, but said people should not approach him. She said anyone doing so could put themselves in a position where they did not know what would happen.

She said: "Due to enquiries made, the police believe that a similarly-described male has been seen in the Osbaldwick area, and is perhaps a resident to that part of the city.

Anyone who recognises the description or the e-fit should phone police on 0845 6060247, quoting incident 1062860300.

Meanwhile, another man is being hunted in York in connection with a rape and kidnapping.

A 22-year-old South Korean woman was the victim of a serious sexual assault in Gloucestershire in July.

One man, Mizanur Rahman, 27, of Cheltenham, has been convicted of rape and kidnapping, but another man police want to speak to has not been traced, and it is believed he has ties to York.

He is described as Asian, with thick, dark hair and a plump build. It is thought he goes by the last name Miah, and may use several first names or nicknames including Abu, Baboo or Babul. Detective Constable Brett Mallon, of Gloucestershire Police, said: "The victim has told us two men carried out this horrific assault on her and we are keen to trace the second man involved. We would particularly like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV photo.

"We have undertaken extensive enquiries to locate this man. We now have information that he is no longer in Cheltenham, but may have connections in Evesham, Birmingham, York or Scotland. It is essential we find him as soon as possible."

Anyone with information should phone Gloucestershire Police on 0845 090 1234 quoting incident 319 of July 25, 2006 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
