POLICE were last night still searching for a York man who went missing while on his way to work.

William Notley, 56, also known as Bill, of Copmanthorpe, left home on Saturday morning to go to work at Tockwith but failed to turn up and his employer raised the alarm, said North Yorkshire Police.

He had last been seen by his wife shortly after 8am as he drove off in a blue Vauxhall Vectra, registration KH02 DHG.

A force spokeswoman said extensive inquiries had revealed his car was spotted travelling into the Humberside area on Saturday, and searches yesterday concentrated in areas north and west of Barton on Humber. Police appealed for Mr Notley to get in touch and let everyone know he is safe and well.

Acting Inspector John Asvadi, of York police, said: “His family are extremely worried and his absence is causing them great distress.”

Mr Notley is white, slim and 5ft, 6ins tall. He has a naturally tanned complexion, brown eyes and light brown hair which is thinning and balding. He was wearing a burgundy zip-up fleece with “Just Travel” written on the chest with a white button-up short sleeved shirt underneath, grey trousers and brown, Skechers trainers.

Anyone who may have seen Mr Notley should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101.
