TEAMS from nine schools are to compete in the regional final of an engineering competition taking place at the National Railway Museum in York on Tuesday.

The students will race an environmentally- friendly model vehicle, which they have designed and built, in the Toyota STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) challenge.

The winners will receive prize money of £250 for their school and will be invited to compete at the national final.

Nick Freeman, assistant general manager, external affairs for Toyota Manufacturing UK said: “It is truly inspirational for us to challenge young engineering minds of the future and see the results of their intellect and imagination in the cars they race.”
