PROP Henry Levett gave an heroic performance as Selby Warriors ARLC Under-15s reached the quarter-finals of the Yorkshire Junior League’s Continuation Cup with a 42-28 win at newly-reformed Yorkshire Coast Titans.

Levett was one of six players on duty for Selby RUFC that morning, meaning the Warriors, who only had the bare 13 players, were up against it, but he blasted over for two tries before finally having to leave the fray due to injury.

The Scarborough side had the wind in the first half and led 24-10, Jonny Black and the inspirational Levett crossing for Selby.

Levett had gone off after his try with injury but, on his return, beat five players for his second try to make it 24-16 at the break, only to take another knock and be forced off for good.

The 12-man Warriors team, now with the wind, excelled after the break, scoring tries through James McKeon, captain Chaz Fothergill, who was struggling with injury from last week, Ethan Mack, Black, with a long-ranger, and Ben Morris, with Black adding the goals.

Fothergill, Sam Stephenson and a home player were sin-binned late on after a skirmish, with the Titans scoring the last try while they had 12 men and Selby only ten.

The Warriors go to Siddal in the last-eight tie – the sides lying second and first in U15s division three.

York Acorn U15s lost 42-32 at Milford in the same competition, while Heworth U15s, of division two, fought hard but lost 48-10 to first division side West Hull in the Challenge Cup.

The Villagers matched their opponents in many ways, but West Hull’s sharp finishing skills earned the victory. Heworth never gave up and Robin Page and Jack Smith scored tries with Luke Adamson adding a conversion.

Heworth U13s secured their second victory of the season with a strong display of free flowing rugby at Dearne Valley Bulldogs.

The hosts battled on but were always outclassed as the York won 60-8.

With Shay North, Henri Grimbley and Iain Oakley pulling the strings and with Leon Beattie chiming into the attacking line, supported by strong running from the pack of James Smith, Cain North, Alfie Hancock and George Leeming, the visitors were quickly dominating.

Incisive runs from Jamie Morrison, man-of-the-match Jake Wright and Charles Marsh wreaked havoc, while Jordan O’Hara and James Raley proved their worth in defence.

Try scorers were Marsh (2), Wright (2), Oakley (3), Morrison (4), with goals added by Beattie, Oakley (2), Wright (2) and North (3).

New Earswick All Blacks U11s drew with Huddersfield side St Joseph’s in a fine game at White Rose Avenue.

St Joseph’s went ahead but All Blacks replied as Lewis Young broke and put the excellent Taylor McDonough over in the corner for a superb try.

St Joseph’s scored twice more but Young bagged a brace himself. Again the Huddersfield outfit went ahead but, five minutes from time, powerhouse prop Dan Cannon – the parents’ player of the match and the game’s joint-top tackler with man-of-the-match Luke Prenty – blasted through, taking the ball and two defenders over the line to even things up.

Both teams had a chance to win with superb sets but it ended all square. Ellena Powell and most improved player Joshua Addison took magic moment awards.

Heworth U10s defeated Dewsbury Moor in a close game where both sides worked hard to gain the upper hand. Callum Dunmore, Luke Kane and try-scorers Leon Mooring and Callum Rutland led the way for the Villagers.
