A LONG weekend of fishing helped a 90-year-old grandfather raise more than £5,000 for charity.
Stan Britton, of Elvington, near York, has raised more than £30,000 for children's charity When You Wish Upon A Star.
For his latest fundraising feat, he spent a long weekend on a sponsored fishing trip.
Mr Britton handed over a cheque for £5,725 at The Ice Factor skating rink, at the Eye of York, which is supporting the charity with a wishing well collection.
Vicki Whitwell, events co-ordinator for the charity, said: "We are hugely grateful to both Mr Britton and the ice rink for their support.
"Mr Britton has been fantastically supportive.
"He is a wonderful man and his money goes to help the lives of terminally-ill children and those with life-limiting conditions."
