STUDENTS and staff at Selby College have said a fond farewell to a valued member of staff.
Catering lecturer David Robinson retired on Friday, after 21 years at the college.
Youngsters and colleagues sat down for a meal in the college's Four Seasons Restaurant to celebrate David's time there.
Principal Allan Stewart thanked David on behalf of everyone at the college.
Mr Stewart told the audience about David's appointment back in the 1980s, after working as a catering manager in the hotel industry.
The Four Seasons Restaurant has gained a good reputation under David's control, recently hosting the Captains of Industry, Selby Ambassadors' Dinner.
He was presented with a gift by the chairman of the Selby-Carentan twinning group, Sallie Lockwood, a regular diner at the restaurant.
Mr Stewart said: "As a personality, I know David has been one of our most popular members of staff, and it's not difficult to understand why.
"He is an exemplary member of staff, who is extremely highly regarded for the significant contribution he has made over the years.
David made an emotional speech, saying: "Go beyond the fence of Selby, there's a big world out there, and the industry needs - and deserves - you."
