AN ELDERLY woman suffered a broken hip when she was hit by a bike as she was walking along a newly opened cycle path in North Yorkshire.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident, which happened on the path between Ripley and Bilton, near Harrogate, at about 4.15pm on Easter Monday.
A force spokesman said a mountain-bike rider travelling in the same direction collided with the woman when he tried to pass by. He fell off his bike but then remounted and continued his journey.
The woman was taken by air ambulance to Harrogate District Hospital where she was stable following surgery. A man in his 50s was traced by officers in the Ripon area on Monday evening and is helping police with their inquiries.”
