THE Northern Hockey League division one misery continues for City of York.

Their men's team lost 4-1 to Newcastle University and are still hunting their first league win of the season.

The pattern followed previous matches with York failing to capitalise on early domination and falling behind due to defensive errors.

Alex Cockram got the City goal with a well-executed reverse stick shot and there was a sold display in defence by Avtar Matharu, while Simon Grey had a goal disallowed.

York matched their skilful opponents stride for stride but with 15 minutes left the South Yorkshire side went in front with a short corner.
