They were unfortunate to have a goal disallowed early on before Harrogate took the lead from a well-worked short corner.
In a game of many chances, York failed to take advantage of the opportunities that fell their way, while Harrogate scored a second goal from open play to take the points.

Ed Long gave York an early lead before Helen Shilleto, in excellent goal-scoring form, struck a fine first-half hat-trick.
Anne Maguire pulled a goal back for Harrogate just before half-time but Laura Bellamy soon restored York's lead.
Although Claire Turner then scored Harrogate's second, a goal each from Bellamy and Shilleto sealed a decisive victory for York.
In division four, City of York Ladies Development team also won, 1-0 at home to Ben Rhydding IV.
In an evenly-fought game, York were indebted to 'keeper Lauren Shuttleworth for a series of saves and snatched the points mid-way through the second-half when Alison Stafford deflected the ball in after good work by Cath Dabbs.
City of York Ladies IV lost 2-1 at Ben Rhydding V in division five.
Becky Copperthwaite gave York an interval lead but two second-half goals gave the home side victory.
