KP Golf’s Captain’s series was won by pace-setter Neil Williamson, who opted not to play the third round after producing a two-round net total – and target to beat – of 126.
But it was only by the skin of his teeth that he prevailed as under the format of the two best scores from three rounds to count, his total came under heavy pressure in the third and final round.
Shane Sellars was closest when he followed a first round 64 with a third round 63 to leave him on 127, just a shot adrift.
Third position went to Steve Miller, who added a 63, the best of the day, to his second round 65 for a 128 finish.
Fourth place was bagged by Mal Cashmore with a two-round tally of 130.
All the leading four will now have a day’s golf at Brough GC with captain and director of golf Aaron Pheasant.
The KP club hosts its annual Captain versus Vice-captain match tomorrow, with the first medal event of the year scheduled for April 7.
