A TALK about the death of King Richard III takes place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Wednesday.

Bob Woosnam-Savage, the Royal Armouries’ curator of European edged weapons, will provide an overview of what is currently known about the death of the Lost King of England, who died at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.

Mr Woosnam-Savage will detail how his forensic investigations helped lead an archaeological team to identify the last of the Plantagenet kings.

The sensational identification of Richard’s skeleton in February led to headlines and media coverage around the world.

Bob was invited to join the Greyfriars’ project by the University of Leicester and worked to help identify Richard, using his expert knowledge of medieval weapons.

Many historians believed Richard was buried at Greyfriars after his death at the Battle of Bosworth, but his corpse had been disinterred during the Dissolution. His remains had never been identified – until last month’s historic announcement .

Tickets for the talk, which starts at 6.30pm, are £5. Phone 0113 220 1888 or visit royalarmouries.org
