York Schoolboys U11s’ hopes of winning the Yorkshire League faded as they suffered a crushing 4-1 loss at Hull, writes James Jeavons.
Title rivals Hull went in front after 15 minutes when they were awarded a penalty and York ’keeper Aaron Burn was left to pick the ball out of the net.
Hull doubled their lead just before half-time following a long ball over the top of the York defence.
Starting the second half brightly, York got back in the game when Dan Allinson scored direct from a free-kick. But as they pushed for an equaliser they were pegged back as Hull made it 3-1 from a corner and the hosts added a fourth just before the final whistle.
Allinson, Charlie King, Dan Stevenson and Burn all stood out for York, along with man-of-the-match Charlie Cresswell.
