Lacey Turner played her part of a young army recruit so well in 'Our Girl' she was mistaken for a real soldier on the set and shouted at.

Lacey Turner got mistaken for a real soldier while filming 'Our Girl'.

The 24-year-old actress - who portrays young army recruit Molly Dawes in the BBC One drama - was shouted at by the real soldiers on the set of the show, but admits she was pleased to have such discipline in place as it made the programme more realistic to film.

She said: "I asked them to watch me 24/7 because the Army is so strict: if even a thumb is out of place recruits have to do it again and again and again, and the same applied to me.

"A few times sergeants shouted at me - they mistook me for a real cadet because I was in the same uniform and didn't have my BBC badge."

While the brunette beauty - who played market stall worker Stacey Slater in 'EastEnders' for six years - found 'Our Girl' "challenging" to film, she enjoyed doing military training to get into character.

She added to the Radio Times magazine: "The Afghanistan scenes we actually filmed in a quarry in Leighton Buzzard with a couple of goats. It was freezing but I relished the challenge of, say, trying to get over a 12ft wall when you're only 5ft nothing.

"Most of the people in the film are real soldiers. The military training was really fun."
