A POLICE helicopter from West Yorkshire helped to catch a suspected burglar in York.
It used heat detectors to find the 18-year-old man believed to have been involved in an early morning burglary in New Earswick.
The teenager was arrested after the helicopter crew spotted him hiding behind a shed in Lime Tree Avenue at 2.15am.
Officers on the ground were guided in to arrest the man following reports of a possible burglary at the address.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said a member of the public had reported suspicious activity.
Yesterday the suspect remained in custody.
The helicopter had initially been called to help trace a vulnerable man in his 20s who had gone missing from home in Gate Helmsley at 1.15am. He was found safe and well at 2.10am.
