NATURALLY, mega-players in the civil engineering industry and their agents back huge projects such as HS2, but that is secondary to the political chicanery.
Our masters in Brussels decided that we must have Corridor Two, which is their name for HS2.
The political class is the undisputed chief beneficiary of our deep involvement in this undemocratic and unaffordable club, so they lean over backwards to appease the EU.
It is one more example of the need for a referendum on our political position in a club the membership application forms for which we have never signed.
