POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was killed in a car crash near York.
The accident happened at about 7.30pm on Friday on the B1257 Malton to Helmsley Road, about half-a-mile towards Stonegrave.
The car hit the pedestrian on the Helmsley-bound carriageway and suffered fatal injuries.
Police would like to speak to anyone who was travelling along the B1257 between 7pm and 8pm that evening.
An ambulance service spokeswoman said an ambulance was called to a collision between a car and a pedestrian outside Stonegrave Lodge shortly before 7.30pm.
The driver of the vehicle is not believed to have been hurt.
