PEOPLE in Selby district and East Yorkshire have been asked to look out for a vehicle seen close to the scene of an attempted theft of railway equipment.

North Yorkshire Police and the British Transport Police (BTP), have released details of the red Peugeot 406.

A BTP spokesman said officers were called to an industrial site in Hensall, near Goole, on Sunday, following reports of the attempted theft of railway equipment.

He said: “Inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible for the attempted theft.”

“The incident was reported to BTP at 5.10pm, but and is thought to have taken place on the line between Eggborough and Gowdall between 2.30pm and 3pm.”

North Yorkshire Police said the Peugeot had the registration Y69LDN, and the driver was believed to be involved in burglary and attempts to steal plant equipment.
