POLICE in East Yorkshire have launched their annual campaign to help reduce the number of motorcycle casualties on the region’s roads.

Operation Achilles was launched on Tuesday, for the ninth year, and uses a combination of education, enforcement and engineering tactics to help inform bikers.

The scheme has seen the number of motorcyclists killed or seriously injured on East Yorkshire’s roads reduced from 150 to 101.

The operation also supports BikeSafe, which speaks to bikers and encourages them to take structured training in police-led workshops with advanced riders.
