London 2012 triggered a string of award wins at last night's (19.03.13) RTS Awards, including Best Presenter for Clare Balding and a special judges' prize for opening ceremony organiser Danny Boyle.

Clare Balding received a standing ovation as she picked up the best presenter accolade at last night's Royal Television Society (RTS) Programme Awards.

The 42-year-old presenter was given the accolade for her work on London 2012 - for which the BBC's coverage was also named best live event - and told the audience at London's Grosvenor hotel she was "bloody proud" to be a sports presenter.

She said: "I'm particularly proud as a sports presenter to be nominated alongside an artist and an arts broadcaster because I think it's easy to think of sports being just about sweaty jockstraps and balls.

"Sport is about so much more than that. It is art, it is history, it is science, it is finance, it is news, it is drama and above all it is entertainment. I'm bloody proud to be a sports presenter."

The Olympics coverage also saw a number of other prizes given, with opening ceremony director Danny Boyle honoured with a special Judges' award, as was Channel 4 for their coverage of the Paralympics - which were fronted by Clare and Ade Adepitan.

Dave Gordon, who bowed out as the BBC's head of major sporting events after 40 years following the Olympics, was given a lifetime achievement award.

Elsewhere, Ant and Dec collected the best entertainment performance prize for the third year in a row for hosting 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!', and 'Coronation Street' was named best soap for the second consecutive year.

'Sherlock' picked up two prizes, with creator Steven Moffat taking the drama writer honour, and the show names best drama programme.

Courtroom drama 'The Accused' was also a double winner, with Sean Bean and Olivia Colman taking the actor and actress trophies.
