WHAT a difference a year makes.
This time last year, with York basking in glorious sunshine, the daffodils on the City Walls and on the slopes below Clifford’s Tower were in full bloom.
Now, with temperatures barely rising above freezing and sleet and snow forecast to fall again last night, the buds remain tightly closed.
Weathermen do not hold out much hope for immediate relief, with further sleet and snow expected to sweep the area tomorrow night and into Friday morning.
The one consolation may be that the daffs will finally bloom at just the right time to delight the hordes of tourists visiting York over the Easter weekend.
