YOUNGSTERS at a York primary school have reached the gold standard for their commitment to the performing arts.
Poppleton Ousebank Primary School was given a Gold Star Award by the Sing Up organisation in recognition of its efforts to encourage youngsters participation in the performing arts.
Head teacher Estelle O’Hara, said pupils were involved in two shows or concerts every year, and singing was part of the daily schedule. The judges were impressed with the diversity of singing experiences on offer, and were treated to a rendition of If You’re Happy And You Know It when they visited the school. Children and staff also took part in Sing Up Day last week along with thousands of schools across the country.
Sing Up provides resources for schools that encourage children to “find their voices”.
