A HAT-TRICK from Jon-Paul Turbine propelled York RI into the final of the York FA Acaster Steel Junior (Under-12s) Cup.

Alex Wilson netted twice and Jack Bradbury was also on target for RI as they beat Ryedale side Brooklyn 6-0 in the semi-finals at New Lane.

RI, who play in York Mitchell Sports League division one, started well against their division two visitors, with Wilson and Turbine denied by the Brooklyn ’keeper.

On ten minutes, Jai Wilson crossed for his brother, Alex, to hit the target with a deft left-foot shot.

Eight minutes later, Alex Wilson scrambled the ball in again after a goalmouth melée.

Eddie Bourke and James Walker combined well for Turbine’s first goal midway through the second half.

Turbine was on the scoresheet again with a belting finish five minutes later.

Alex Wilson narrowly missed out on a hat-trick when his shot was punched out by the ’keeper, but substitute Bradbury finished just two minutes after coming on.

Turbine completed his hat-trick moments before the final whistle.

Charlie Cook and Sam Beighton shared the RI man of the match award.

RI will take on Poppleton Tigers in the final after the Millfield Lane youngsters beat Rawcliffe Raiders 10-1 in the last four.

Jack Atkinson led the way with a hat-trick and Jack Leeming scored two, with further goals coming from Thomas Palmer, Joseph Allerton, Ethan Brown and Luke Matterson, plus an own goal.

Raiders’ consolation was scored by Tom Halliday.

Heworth Rangers and Rawcliffe Tigers will contest the final of the York FA Intermediate (Junior) U14s Minor Cup.

Heworth edged past Fulford 2-1, scoring the winner midway through the second half after Fulford had cancelled out their first-half opener.

Rawcliffe were 1-0 winners over Poppleton Tigers, with Jamie Butt firing in the winning goal from 20 yards with ten minutes remaining.

Tadcaster Magnets bowed out of the York FA Senior Minor (U16s) Cup at the semi-final stage after a 5-0 home defeat by Rawcliffe Tigers.

Rawcliffe weathered the early Magnets storm and led 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Reuben Young and Adam Swords. After the break they sealed their final place with strikes by Jack Bywater (2) and Harry Lynn.

They will face the winners of the delayed tie between Wigginton Grasshoppers and Strensall Tigers, which will be played tomorrow (2pm).

The York FA Under-11s Junior Cup semi-final between Tadcaster Magnets Blues and Poppleton Tigers will also be played tomorrow (11am).
