TITLE rivals Wigginton Grasshoppers and Rawcliffe are on a collision course in the York FA Under-19s Cup.

Grasshoppers, who top the York FA U19s Football League, booked their place in the cup final with a 3-0 home win over Dringhouses.

Second-placed Rawcliffe, who are chasing Wiggy with games in hand in the league, trounced visitors Strensall 10-0 in the second semi-final.

There was drama in the first two minutes at Wigginton as the hosts went 2-0 up thanks to a quickfire brace of goals from Tom Kite, one an 18-yard shot and the other a close-range header.

Dringhouses steadied the ship after that and the hosts had to wait until the 60th minute to seal the tie with their third goal, with Kite completing his hat-trick with a 20-yard free-kick.

Rawcliffe’s goalscorers were Robin Jefferson (5), Andy Simpson (3), Jack Stevenson and Cody Atkin.

The final of the York FA Intermediate (Senior) Under-15s Cup will be between Pocklington Town Predators and Wheldrake.

Danny Shaw netted four goals as the Predators beat York Cubs 5-1 in the last four, with Ed Borrie completing their tally.

Wheldrake drew 2-2 with Bishopthorpe White Rose, but then triumphed 5-3 on penalties.

Wheldrake’s two-goal marksman was Ollie Baron, while ’keeper Ben Ewart capped his man of the match award with the crucial penalty save in the shoot-out.

York Cubs and Rawcliffe will meet in the final of the York FA Junior Minor (Under-13s) Cup.

The Cubs beat Wigginton Grasshoppers 6-2 after racing into a 4-1 half-time lead.

The Cubs scorers were David Barber, Lucas Hindle, Tom Flatters, Duke Witter, Noah Hindle and Daniel Zimmer.

Rawcliffe were 6-0 winners in their semi-final against Tadcaster Albion.

Pocklington Town cruised to a 4-0 victory in their York FA Under-11s Junior Cup semi-final against Wigginton.

Jack Creaser scored twice in the first half and Josh Broadbent bagged the other two goals in the second period, with a six-yard tap-in and a breakaway goal.

They will now await the winners of the tie between Tadcaster Magnets Blues and Poppleton Tigers, which will be played on Sunday, March 17.
