MUSIC fans and pub-goers in York are being asked to wind back the clock 25 years to help to solve a video mystery.

Steve Bradley, landlord of The Fulford Arms pub in York, is trying to track down the cameraman or woman who filmed a performance by the band DV & The Clients at The Winning Post pub in Bishopthorpe Road in 1988.

Steve said: “The reason it is important is because the singer, Bob De Vries, who died in 2005, was the singer in York punk band Cyanide, and was arguably York’s first ‘rock star’.

“The band on the video includes Mick Sollitt (now in Huge) and Kev Harton (now in The Supermodels) and in the crowd are a number of recognisable York faces.

“What is causing a debate among people on the film and who were at the gig is that nobody can remember who actually filmed it.”

Steve said he had passed the video to The Yorkshire Film Archive and hoped that, if the person who shot the film could be found, more footage may also come to light.
