ACTION has been called for after it was revealed repair work on Selby District Council homes was not being inspected.

The lack of follow-up inspections on council properties once work has been done has been criticised in a report presented to the board of Access Selby, the organisation which provides services for the authority.

It said the council relied instead on customer satisfaction survey feedback.

The report proposed a five per cent sample of work completed by contractors should be inspected in future to ensure work had been carried out as planned and materials that had been invoiced for had been used.

For council tradesmen, sample checks could also be introduced if customer satisfaction survey responses dipped below 95 per cent satisfied.
