A TEAM of teenage mathematicians from North Yorkshire are hoping for national glory.
Yuchen An, Claudia Rusli, Samantha Lee and Amy Mao, sixth form students at Queen Margaret’s School in Escrick, near, York, emerged victorious in the regional heat of a national maths challenge.
The awesome foursome beat off 20 other teams to take the regional crown in the Senior Maths Challenge event.
They will now compete in the national finals in London on February 5.
Adam Taylor, head of mathematics at Queen Margaret’s, praise for his team.
He said: “These girls are all very talented mathematicians; we are very excited to represent Queen Margaret’s and the region at the national final next month.”
A national competition organised by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust, the STMC brings together state and independent schools for three hours of challenging mathematical problem solving, requiring participants to compete as a team and as individual mathematicians, and always against the clock.
The team will compete against the winners of 50 other regional finalists in national finals.
