North Yorkshire Police are urging motorists to take care on the county’s roads.
The advice comes after a spate of collisions across the county. The road conditions have been made hazardous due to sub-zero temperatures.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Drivers are asked to travel only if it is vital and to check that the route they are intending to use is accessible.
“If they do need to make the journey, drivers are asked to slow down and pay attention to the road conditions. While the roads may appear to be fine, there may be patches of ice in sheltered stretches which could catch drivers unaware. While drivers are travelling we would suggest they listen to local radio for updates on the road conditions in the area.”
