YORK Racecourse has scooped a national award at the Racecourse Association’s Showcase Awards for its efforts to showcase Frankel, the world’s best racehorse.
The track picked up the top prize in the category All About The Horse.
This is the third year in a row that York has collected one of these awards having won last year for its Fashion On The Field entertainment.
William Derby, clerk of the course and chief executive of York Racecourse, said: “It was a huge honour to welcome Frankel to York for the richest race we have ever staged.”
“The York team worked with team Frankel, British Champions Series and Racing for Change to promote the raceday and celebrate a wonderful performance from the world’s highest rated racehorse. It was an electric atmosphere on the day and with intense media interest and record crowds. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to such a truly memorable day.”
