A TEENAGER has appeared in court accused of shaking a baby and giving it a head injury.
Clifford Bradshaw, 19, is expected to deny the charge of causing grievous bodily harm to the child.
The offence is alleged to have taken place on Monday when he was left alone with the baby for a short time by its mother.
He spoke during the hearing only to give his name and confirm his details.
Bradshaw, of Selby but of no fixed address, was remanded in custody at the end of a lengthy hearing before York magistrates. He has been in police custody since his arrest earlier this week. After hearing details of the case, York magistrates decided it was too serious for them to deal with and ordered the prosecution to prepare committal papers so it can be sent to York Crown Court.
The case was adjourned until Monday, when Bradshaw will appear before the same court by a video link.
