GRAHAM Fellows, the chameleon satirist who gave us gave us Jilted John and John Shuttleworth, performs his new show Completely Out Of Character at the Scarborough Spa Theatre on February 10 at 8pm.

Fellows has been the fellow behind radio, television and stage comedy creation John Shuttleworth's quirky, quotable reflections on quotidian life for more than 25 years and took Jilted John's self-tilted spoof punk/novelty single to the number four spot in the summer of 1978, yeah, yeah.

In Completely Out Of Character, Fellows steps out from behind nerdish, aspiring Sheffield singer-songwriter Shuttleworth’s plinky-plonky keyboard to switch to guitar and sing his own brand of “revelatory, humorous, still quirky but sometimes sad” songs.

In addition, he discusses the leather-jacketed, fawn slack-wearing Shuttleworth and his other comic characters, rock musicologist and media studies lecturer Brian Appleton and Goole laser-screed concrete flooring specialist Dave Tordoff, plus his "pivotal" acting role as young biker Les Charlton on Coronation Street and his Manchester Polytechnic drama student days as Jilted John.

Fellows promises to share the tale of the night jazz legend George Melly broke into his bedsit and to recall the time he bought a packet of bread sauce with a famous Hollywood actor, recalled poignantly in the ballad Mark Rylance Was My Lodger.

Tickets for this Coastival-promoted gig are available at £12 on 01723 821888, at scarboroughspa.co.uk or on the door from 7.30pm.
